Step 4

Here's how you use the purple image to create a background covering the entire big, white image: Make sure that you have the purple image active (the non-active images in Photoshop have dimmed bars on top of them, as seen above the large white image here below). Then select "Select All" from the "Select" menu (or similar in other graphic editing programs).

Step 5

Now choose "Define Pattern" (in PhotoShop you'll find it under "Edit") to make a pattern based on the background image you just selected.

Step 6

To avoid future confusion, make sure to name your new pattern to something unique (or at least fairly distinctive) if you think you'll end up with more than one background. I used "Goodnight Kitten Background" below.
